The
Mathematical
Sciences
Department
comprises
a
dynamic
group of
faculty
and
staff responsive
to the
needs of
students.
The
Department
Chair,
Dr.
Jeffrey
McGowan,
and the
Assistant
Chairs,
Dr. Chun
Jin
and
Dr.
Robin
Kalder,
as well
as the
entire
faculty
and
staff,
have
fostered
a
student-centered
environment, where
outstanding
teaching
is the
top
priority,
while
also
stressing
strong
research,
and
service
to CCSU
and the
community.
The
department
offers
seven
undergraduate
degree
and
eight
graduate
degree
programs.
The
seven
undergraduate
degrees
consist
of:
B.A. in
Math,
B.A. in
Math
with a
specialization
in
Actuarial
Science,
B.A. in
Math
with a
specialization
in
Statistics,
B.S. in
Math for
Elementary
Certification,
B.S. in
Math
(combined
with
Biology
or Earth
Science)
for
Elementary
Certification,
and B.S.
in Math
for
Secondary
Certification
(7-12).
The
eight
graduate
degrees
consist
of:
M.A. in
Math,
M.A. in
Math
with a
specialization
in
Actuarial
Science,
M.A. in
Math
with a
specialization
in
Statistics,
M.S. in
Data
Mining
(online
only),
Post-Baccalaureate
Teacher
Certification
in
Secondary
Math,
M.S. for
Certified
Elementary
Teachers,
M.S. for
Certified
Secondary
Teachers,
and a
Sixth-Year
Certificate
in Math
Education
Leadership.
The Math
Department
also
collaborates
with the
Education
Department
in
offering
a M.A.T.
degree
in
Teacher
Education
with a
specialization
in
Secondary
Math
(7-12).
