Preparation for the Exam:

The exam measures your ability at the time you take the exam and makes  placement accordingly.  It does not measure what you once knew or what you could do if you had tried harder.  Any student planning on enrolling at CCSU should take four years of high school mathematics especially one  in their senior year. Since some mathematics is forgotten over time when not used on a regular basis, a slight review before taking the exam makes the placement more accurate.  This is especially true if you did not take any mathematics in your senior year or perhaps took a statistics course and forgot some of the algebra.   Transfer and returning students should take the Math Placement Exam if the course credit they have is from more than a few years ago, as it is the ability you have now that will qualify you to go on to the next level.
